Pismo Beach is a quaint little town with an wonderful downtown area for strolling the shops, restaurants, hotels and a beautiful pier, summer and winter. Enjoy fisihing off the Pismo pier while you watch the surfers below, or just take a stroll and take in the most awesome sunsets.
Pismo was at one time famous for its clams. Although, you will see a sign made of a sculpted clam when you enter or leave the city, clams digging is illegal here now unless you purchase a license. Even with a license you are only allowed a certain number each day if you find them.
There are many festivals in Pismo Beach throughout the year, such as the Clam Festival and the Jazz Festival, and the very popular Car Show on Father's Day weekend each year.
Climate
Pismo Beach's weather is warm and sunny, with occasional breezy afternoons. Mornings may be foggy until the sun comes through, usually by noon. Evenings are very mild, usually not cold, perfect for enjoying a walk on the pier! Summer average temperatures are 73º high and low 53º low. Daytime temperatures can climb into the 80’s on a sunny and clear day year round. In other words, it's beautiful all year!
